Control Over East St. Louis Finances Remains In Doubt

Greg Branson

EAST ST. LOUIS (KMOX) –The question of who will be in charge of East St. Louis’s city financing is still up in the air.  The fate of the East St. Louis Financial Authority is still undecided, after the Illinois house and senate approved different budget measures.

The senate measure eliminates the Authority’s $116,000 budget.  The house proposal keeps the funding intact.

The authority was set up to help ensure the city repay a bailout from the state.  The city still owes the state about seven million dollars.
