Expect More Night Patrols on Illinois Highways

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — State and local police across Illinois are cracking down on seatbelt violations, during a safety campaign that will put an emphasis on night drivers.

The Illinois Department of Transportation announced the start of the mobilization effort on Friday.

Illinois State Police and local law enforcement agencies are adding safety belt and impaired driving patrols through Memorial Day weekend.

Public service announcements developed by Arthur Agency in Carbondale are part of the campaign. The PSAs are aimed at young male motorists, the group most likely to drive unbelted or impaired.
