ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Spiking fuel prices are becoming more of a factor for homebuyers.
Coldwell Banker Gundaker Realtor Joyce Reeves tells KMOX News that’s a concern she’s hearing more and more from prospective clients.
“I’m not going to drive that far from work,” Reeves quotes many as telling her.
Adding to the problem, she says: decades of urban sprawl that have impacted the St. Louis region.
“I had so many people (in the past) who would call us and say ‘Gosh, the further out I go I could get a bigger house or a bigger yard, and that’s what I want,” Reeves explains.
Now, homebuyers say it’s just too expensive to live very far from work.
However, Reeves says the recent spike in fuel prices may have one benefit… homebuyers are taking a new look at urban neighborhoods.
