Dooley Doesn’t Apologize for Property Assessments
ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) — St. Louis County property assessments are arriving in the mail. Is your home really worth what they claim?
The recently elected assessor, Jake Zimmerman told KMOX he’s confident many assessments will be wrong, because he has discovered some assessments lacking fair comparable, and some without even a photograph of the house.
The man who’s been charge, County Executive Charlie Dooley, makes no apologies.
“St. Louis county is only responsible for assessment of a piece of property, the assessment not the tax rate,” Dooley goes on to say the assessments are “fair and above board.”
When asked whether he got his own assessment statement in the mail, Dooley says he hasn’t noticed.
If you think your home was unfairly assessed, call the county assessor’s office at (314) 615-5124 to find out more about the appeals process.
