Satellite View of Joplin Tornado

UNDATED (KMOX) – As technology grows and develops, so too do the models meteorologists have to study weather patterns.

Through use of satellites, scientists can now provide a “big picture” look at how severe weather develops.

Every 15 minutes, the satellites send data back to Earth.

Here’s a look at what happened last Sunday when a massive tornado hit Joplin, Missouri.
