St. Louis Interior Decorator Indicted on Fraud Charges

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) –  The owner of a St. Louis-area interior decorating business faces fraud charges.

Investigators say 50-year-old Kay Ottinger, the owner of Well Appointed Inc, padded her bottom line to the tune of an extra $1 million by inflating her estimates for goods and services, in some instances creating fictitious invoices from non-existent companies to justify her bill.

This week a federal grand jury indicted Ottinger on five felony counts of mail fraud.

She faces a potential 100-year prison term and a fine of more than $1 million.
