Brett Blume

UNION, Mo. (KMOX) — Franklin County, which sits just below the southernmost point of the Missouri River, took the brunt of the historic 1993 flood.

So officials there are taking new warnings about possible serious flooding this summer very seriously.

Franklin County officials have already ordered the deployment of sandbags along the banks of the Missouri, and later today there will be a special public meeting for people who are concerned about the pending crisis.

The meeting starts at 1 pm at the Franklin County Government Center in Union.
