EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (KMOX) – A Granite City, Illinois man admits his part in a massive cocaine ring.

The US Attorneys Office says 32-year-old Oscar Ortiz has pleaded guilty to conspiracy and possession charges.  He’s also agreed to hand over half a million dollars in assets to the government.

Prosecutors contend Ortiz is one of nearly two dozen people involved in the drug organization.  Other defendants are awaiting trial.

When sentenced in September, Ortiz faces ten years to life in prison.
