Store Manager Sentenced in Food Stamp Fraud Case

O’FALLON, IL. (KMOX) - The manager of a Metro East convenience store is sentenced for defrauding the government for more than 1-point-5 million dollars in a food stamp scheme.
Rami Mohammad of O’fallon managed a Quick Stop in Washington Park.
Federal prosecutors say he got food stamps from customers and paid them half their value in cash. He would then ring up a false purchase and collect the full amount from the government.
Mohammad a citizen of Jordan who is in the country legally was sentenced to 33 months in prison and and ordered to pay the money ($1,590,409.31) back.
Officials say he will likely be sent back to Jordan after serving the time.
