ST. LOUIS–(KMOX)–The U-S Conference of Mayors says St. Louis won’t recover from the jobs lost in the recession until 2014.
A member of the Conference, and chairman of the committee on jobs, education and workforce, St. Louis Mayor Slay doesn’t dispute the study.
“There’s been a recovery on paper, but it’s been a jobless recovery,” Slay said, “This is a crisis in the country.”
They study finds St. Louis lost 82,000 jobs since 2008.
Slay says the best prospects for job growth now are in the financial services and health care sectors. The Mayor says he would like to see more growth in small businesses and in exporting associated with the proposed International Cargo Hub at Lambert Airport.
