ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Hail and high winds marked a fast moving thunderstorm this afternoon.
Half-inch to inch hail hit DeSoto, Festus, Crystal City and Chesterfield.
But at the storm rolled across the Mississippi River it gathered strength.
Tree limbs and power lines are reported down across the Metro East. Greenville , Vandalia, and Keysport were hit to the north. A large tree was blown onto a home in Keysport where winds were clocked at up to 80 miles an hour.
Tree limbs were also blown down to the south in Marissa, Waterloo, and Okawville.
Shingles were blown off a home in Bartelso. Power lines were taken down in Trenton.
Carlyle, New Baden, Red Bud, and Foster Pond all reported hail from pea to quarter size.
Six inch limbs are also reported down in Sparta, Illinois.
