Baby Elephant Needs a Name

The Saint Louis Zoo has announced the birth of an Asian elephant by its mother, Rani the Zoo's 15-year-old Asian elephant,  in St. Louis on Friday, June 24, 2011. The baby appears healthy and is walking around.The elephant care staff has not yet confirmed the weight or height, because Rani is being very protective of her newborn. ST. LOUIS, MO. (KMOX) — The names are out! What will the newest elephant at the St. Louis Zoo be called? It will either be June, Kenzi, Zoe or Mya.

The zoo picked the four names, but now its up to the public to vote.

You have through July 4th to vote in the zoo’s online poll.

You can also vote in person at the Zoo Welcome Desks or mail in the vote at:

If you mail in the vote please include your name along with the baby elephant’s name you desire.

The zoo will announce the winning name on July 5th.
