Muny Preparing for National Premiere

Harry Hamm

When the overture begins for The Muny’s production of “The Little Mermaid” Wednesday night at 8:15, it will be the first time Disney has allowed the show to be produced since it’s close on Broadway on August 30, 2009, after 685 performances. Disney executives will be viewing The Muny’s production here in St. Louis because they have some potential interest in forming an official national company and touring the show across the United States, and perhaps even overseas.

Our first review of  “The Little Mermaid” will be heard on KMOX on Thursday, along with a print review in the Entertainment Section at KMOX.Com.

The show will be on stage at The Muny through July 14.

I hope that there is a national company in the near future. I saw the show twice on Broadway, and it was charming and delightful. The New York critics really gave it a raw deal. I would be perfectly happy if Patti Murin headed the tour, having enjoyed her work in “Beauty and the Beast” and “Xanadu.”

BTW, check apostrophe use in your story.

Looks REALLY cool but like Broadway’s better. I’m so privileged to know Sierra Boggess!!! <3 Mermaid.

Patti Murin and Sierra Boggess worked together in the musical “Princesses,” which never made it to New York, though it had a lot of merit.
