ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) – Many St. Louis County residents may have thought this year’s property reassessments would have dropped dramatically, as the real estate market dipped the last two years.
Yet this year’s reassessments are all over the map.
In some areas, estimated property values dropped as much as 10-percent, while in others they’ve risen 15-percent or higher.
The assessor readily admits he expected mistakes.
Meanwhile thousands of property owners lined up to protest what they thought were over-inflated values.
KMOX News looks at the assessment system in a series of special reports this week. In part two, Megan Lynch talks with some people who say, good luck trying to get an assessment corrected.
