Towing Company Accused of Scamming Joplin Victims

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMOX) – Missouri’s Attorney General is going after a tow company accused of bilking victims of the Joplin tornado.

Chris Koster has obtained a temporary restraining order against Northland Tow Service.

Koster alleges the company was towing vehicles damaged in the storms — in some cases owners were falsely told Northland was working with an insurance company — in other cases cars were taken without the owners’ knowledge.

More than 50 vehicles were taken to a tow lot in Baxter Springs, Kansas.
