ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) – Some St. Louis residents are breaking the law trying to keep cool.
City Water Commissioner Kurt Skouby tells KMOX they’ve gotten several reports of people busting into fire hydrants.
Skouby says it’s dangerous.
“The water goes out in the street, reduces visibility for traffic and you’ve got kids playing in the water.”
Skouby says often the hydrants are damaged which means they’re out of service for emergencies.
Tampering with a hydrant is a misdemeanor.
