ST. LOUIS (KMOX)-Even though he hasn’t announced which seat he’s seeking, Democratic Congressman Russ Carnahan is off to a good start in fundraising.
Carnahan says he has raised $540,000 dollars in the first half of the year. He told supporters in an email that that’s “the most I’ve raised in my career at this point in an election cycle.”
Instead of releasing figures for the previous quarter, as most candidates do, Carnahan released figures for the first half of the year. Based on his first quarter report, Carnahan raised 207,000 in the second quarter.
Carnahan, who’s losing his seat to redistricting, has told KMOX he’s leaning toward running for the 2nd district seat Todd Akin is vacating to run for Senate. He could also challenge fellow Democrat William “Lacy” Clay in the first district.
