Drownings Claim 3 Lives in Missouri Over Weekend
ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) — Three men have drowned in separate incidents in the state over the weekend.
On Saturday, 56 year old Michael Collins of High Ridge drowned in the Meramec River near George Winter Park. Investigators say he died Saturday after his boat began floating away from a dock and he entered the water to retrieve it.
Also on Saturday, a Pekin, Illinois man died after he fell out of a fishing boat on Mark Twain Lake in northeast Missouri. The Missouri State Water Patrol identifies the victim as 75-year-old Richard Goodwin.
And a 34 year old man has drowned in the Little Gravois Cove at the Lake of the Ozarks. The Missouri State Water Patrol identified the victim as Christopher D. Powell of Syracuse. He jumped into the lake Saturday night, went under water and didn’t resurface. The patrol says other people swimming with Powell searched and pulled him from the water.
A doctor pronounced Powell dead about an hour and half after he disappeared under the water.
