Metro-East Man Uses Facebook, Text Messaging to Commit Crime

EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (KMOX) – A Columbia Illinois man will spend ten years in prison for attempting to get a teen to let him perform a sex act.

Federal prosecutors say 29-year-old Roy Browne began having contact with his 16-year-old victim through Facebook.

Then, he started texting  to set up a time and place for an encounter.

Columbia police used information provided by the victim’s parent to nab Browne at the meeting place.

He was arrested in February and charged with enticement of a minor.
