5 Plead Guilty in Metro East Drug Ring

East St. Louis, IL-(KMOX)–Federal prosecutors say five men arrested in a 25-man cocaine distribution ring in the Metro-East have pleaded guilty to drug charges and are awaiting sentencing.  A sixth— Luis Ramirez of Fairmont City — was sentenced to 70 months in prison, Friday.  Prosecutors say the 22-year-old Ramirez must also forfeit 106-thousand dollars in drug money.

Court documents say the cocaine distribution ring was active from April 2008 until March of this year.
