MARION, Ill. (AP) __ Southern Illinois residents who suffered
damage and losses during recent severe weather have about a week
left to apply for federal disaster assistance.
The application deadline for assistance is Aug. 8.
State and federal recovery officials say more than $16 million
in disaster assistance has already been approved for southern
Illinois residents and businesses.
Officials say funding is available to cover temporary rental
assistance, home repairs and other disaster-related needs not
covered by insurance.
To register for assistance from the Federal Emergency Management
Agency, visit www.disasterassistance.gov.
