They’re called “flash mobs” and they drive civic leaders mad.
All summer, teenagers have been organizing large spur-of-the-moment gatherings using their computers and cellphones.
It’s happened in the U. City Loop. . .and in most major cities.
Merchants say the mobs drive their customers away.
Saturday night, swarming teens packed Kansas City’s Country Club Plaza, an upscale shopping and dining district.
The mayor was there to see it firsthand.
Shortly before midnight and just 50 yards away, a teen inside the flash mob pulled a gun and opened fire.
Two boys were shot in the legs. A girl had a graze wound on her head.
“That’s it,” says the mayor.
He’s demanding a plan to deal with unruly flash mobs and wants the plan in place by this coming weekend.
