UPDATE: Alton Man Hit By Train Identified

ALTON, Ill. (KMOX) — The man who was struck and killed by a train in Alton Saturday night has been identified as 50 year old Lawrence Meyer of Alton.

Madison County Deputy Coroner Roger Smith says Meyer was hit by a Chicago to St. Louis train about 360 feet west of the Humbert Road crossing.

Smith says routine toxicology tests will be performed to check for drugs or alcohol.

An Amtrak spokesman says the 120 passengers and crew on board the train were not hurt.
