AFFTON, Mo. (KMOX) — For a few hours Sunday night, county police had issued what was called an “Endangered Persons Advisory”.
An 11-year-old from south county had gone to the store Saturday afternoon and not returned.
Her grandmother called police and police issued the advisory.
Officers on the ground in the Affton area searched the girl’s neighborhood. A police helicopter was called in for an air search.
After police began talking with the missing girl’s friends, they learned she had gone to a friend’s house in the Affton area and was staying there.
Rather than a missing person, the girl was classified as a runaway and turned over to juvenile authorities. Police say she was not in danger, just not willing to stay at home.
