Explosion, Fire Destroys Vacant Metro East Home

Greg Branson/Brett Blume

BELLEVILLE, Ill. (KMOX) –  Heavy damage but no injuries reported following an early-morning fire in the Metro East.

The first report came in around 3:30 a.m. Monday at a home on Highwood Circle in Belleville.

At one point the roof was fully engulfed before firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control and put it out.

Turns out the house was vacant and had no power or gas service, meaning investigators will be looking closely at the possibility that the fire was deliberately set.

Again, no injuries reported in and explosion and fire at a vacant home in Belleville early this morning.
