Officials: Gas Station Hold-Up was Inside Job

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (KMOX) – Madison County officials say the hold-up of an Edwardsville convenience store appears to be an inside job.

Investigators say  20-year-old Joshua Stroud of Glen Carbon. called in a robbery report from his job at Midwest Petroleum on Route 143 Sunday night.  Stroud claimed he’d gone outside for a smoke and was approached by a masked, pistol-wielding suspect.

But officials say based on surveillance video and other evidence they believe it was staged in cooperation with two other suspects, 21-year-old Nicholas Craine of Edwardsville and 18-year-old Robert Primas of Worden.

The trio are charged with burglary and disorderly conduct.  They’re being held on 85-thousand-dollars bond, each.
