Credit Card Thieves Sentenced

ST. LOUIS (AP) __ Two men from Massachusetts have been sentenced to prison for breaking into lockers at St. Louis-area health clubs, stealing credit cards, then using them to buy electronics, computers and other items.

The sentences were handed down Wednesday in U.S. District Court in St. Louis for 55-year-old Jonathan Vendituoli of Swansea, Mass., and 54-year-old Kevin Cooney of Belmont, Mass. Vandituoli was sentenced to seven years in prison. Cooney received a five-year sentence.

Federal prosecutors say the men traveled to St. Louis several times in 2010, stole the cards, then purchased items from Best Buy stores in the St. Louis area. They were arrested in February and pleaded guilty in April.

Both must pay restitution __ Vendituoli about $88,000, Cooney nearly $50,000.
