Threat Against Illinois Lounge Earns Man Federal Prison Term

FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Ill. (KMOX) –  A man gets federal prison time for making a threat against a southern Illinois lounge earlier this year.

45-year-old Samirkumar “Samir” Mody of Lake Egypt had earlier pled guilty to sending a threatening letter to the Ramesses Lounge in Marion in January.

Authorities say in the note Mody threatened to “blast everybody in the lounge by chemical tubes”.

It was never made clear what he meant by that, but prosecutors say on another occasion Mody left an envelope containing a gun at the same lounge.

He was ordered to spend five months in prison followed by five months of home confinement.
