ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – Dozens of fire engines—old and new— were on display in downtown St. Louis, Saturday afternoon— as part of The 28th Annual Great Fire Engine Rally outside Soldier’s Memorial.

Elaine Lindhorst of St. Charles is a member of the Dalmatian Club of Greater St. Louis. Lindhorst and others brought their dogs out for a “photo opp”— and stopped to tell us about the history of dalmatians and fire trucks, “They’re good with horses, and they used to stay in the stables with the horses that pulled the fire trucks. That’s why they’re kind of a mascot.”

In addition to the fire trucks, there were booths with t-shirts and other collectables, as well as a 9-11 first responder memorial.
