Thieves Hit Metro-East Repair Shop

BETHALTO, Ill. (AP) — The owner of a Bethalto electronics repair store says she got rid of her security system after going six years with no problems.

When thieves finally targeted her storefront, they cleared nearly everything out.

Police Detective Cole McMichael says someone kicked in the door at Computer Specialists and carted off cash, computers, TVs and video game systems.

He says the front of the store was stripped clean. Most of the items, including 10 laptops, belonged to customers who had brought them in to be repaired.

Owner Christina Johnson tells the (Alton) Telegraph the stolen items include two flat-screen TVs. She says a third was left behind in the parking lot.

Johnson says she’s planning to install a new security system with cameras.
