LAS VEGAS (KMOX) – A St. Louisan continues to make noise in professional boxing.

Golden Boy Promotions announced Saturday night that it has signed a deal with former junior welterweight title-holder Devon Alexander.

He formerly was represented by Don King Promotions.

Golden Boy promoter Richard Schaefer says he hopes to include the 24-year-old Alexander in a welterweight tournament he’s pitching to networks like Showtime and HBO.

Alexander is 22-1 as a professional, with 13 knockouts. He’s coming off a split decision win in June.

Golden Boy Promotions was established in 2002 by boxer Oscar de la Hoya.
