Man To Be Sentenced For Stealing Kinder’s Car

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) — A Cape Girardeau man will be sentenced Monday for stealing and torching Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder’s car.

The Southeast Missourian reports that 18-year-old Jacob Shepard faces up to seven years in prison for stealing and four years for property damage.

Shepard pleaded guilty Aug. 29 to stealing Kinder’s 2009 Ford Flex in April and ramming it into a brick wall. The car was set on fire north of Cape Girardeau.

A co-defendant, 21-year-old Adam D. Cromer, has pleaded not guilty to stealing a motor vehicle, first-degree tampering and second-degree attempted burglary. He is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 11.
