County Executive Dooley Wants Review of Casino Tax Reduction

CLAYTON (KMOX) – St. Louis County Executive Charlie Dooley has done an about-face on the casino tax assessment issue.

On several occasions, the latest at a town hall meeting on Wednesday night, Dooley woved he would not take a stand on the Board of Equalization’s decision to cut taxes for Harrah’s and River City Casinos.

But now in a letter to Board Chair Leslie Broadnax he is asking the members to reconvene and review their decision.

In the Letter, Dooley states, “On behalf of St. Louis County residents who may have to bear the burden of increased taxes if the casinos are not properly assessed,  I ask that the Board reconvene for review and clarification of its recent decision.”
