ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – A burglary suspect has died after being shot during a break-in at a south St. Louis home.

The St. Louis Post Dispatch reports police say 39-year-old Rico Kemp kicked in the back door of a home in the 28 hundred block of Magnolia around 12:30 a-m Friday.  That woke up a 48-year-old man staying in the home,  who fired one shot, hitting Kemp in the chest.

Kemp had previous convictions for burglary, theft, property damage and domestic assault.  He had been on parole since April from the Missouri Department of Corrections.

Home invasions are terrifying and there are effective non-lethal methods available to
to homeowners for personal protection. For example, a super sized 1lb canister of either Wildfire pepper spray or pepper gel will stop any intruder in his tracks. Visit http://www.urbansafetysolutions.com
