ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - A man who led St. Louis Police on a foot chase and was maced, later died at a hospital.
Police say they took 49 year old Tommy Fluellen into custody for trespassing in the 5700 block of Wabada, but he managed to escape from the patrol car.
When officers caught up with him in the 5600 block of Highland they report he fought with them. That’s when they maced him.
Later, he became unresponsive in the police cruiser and was transported to a hospital and later pronounced dead.
Doctors who examined Fluellen said the cause of death appeared to have been from cardiac arrest.
A suspect is hospitalized after police pulled him down from a retaining wall. Officers were conducting what they called a pedestrian check when the individual fled. Police say he was holding his waistband while he ran, so the officer pulled his gun, fearing he was armed.
When the suspect tried to climb a retaining wall and officer pulled him to the ground and the officer’s gun accidentally discharged. No one was hit, but the suspect suffered cuts to his face and was treated at a hospital. After the arrest police say they found drugs in his possession.
