A local bank shut down by the government Friday reopens under a new name Tuesday.
Federal bank regulators seized Sun Security Bank of Ellington, Missouri, south of St. Louis.
The failed bank had branches in the St. Louis area.
Under the takeover agreement, the assets of Sun Security have been turned over to Great Southern Bank of Springfield, Missouri.
The signs have already been changed and the former Sun Security branches reopen Tuesday under the Great Southern brand.
Sun Security was one of two banks seized last week. The other was in Minnesota.
On a related note, all banks are closed Monday for Columbus Day. Many government offices are also closed and there is no mail delivery due to the holiday.
Many Illinois schools are closed for Columbus Day while most schools in Missouri will be open.
