St. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) – In the GOP race for Missouri’s Second Congressional District, Ann Wagner reported over the weekend that she had raised more than one million dollars in the first 5 months of her campaign.
In a press release, Wagner said “I am energized by the strength and momentum of our campaign. And I intend to answer the call of the people to bring strong, effective, conservative leadership to Washington.”
Wagner is facing a runoff battle with Ed Martin. Over the weekend that Martin campaign reported the candidate had raised over $115,000.
The U.S. Congressional seat is up for grabs with Republican incumbent Todd Akin running for the U.S. Senate.
According to political insiders, the likely Democratic candidate is Representative Russ Carnahan. If Carnahan decides to run in the Second District, its reported his campaign has $393,000 cash-on-hand.
