V.A. in St. Louis Ready for Homebound Troops

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – When 38,000 U.S. Troops in Iraq are back in the U.S by the end of the year, many of them may be directed to the V.A. Facilities in St. Louis.

How many, we don’t know, says V.A. Medical Center Spokeswoman Marcena Gunter, but she says the V.A. has been beefing up facilities and programs here for the
influx.

“We’ve been paving the way and preparing for when all the troops are back home” said Gunter.

A new Post Traumatic Stress building has been added at Jefferson Barracks along with a community clinic in Washington Missouri as well as an increase in
outpatient and homeless programs.

President Obama announced Friday that U.S. troops would be home by the end of the year.
