ST. LOUIS (KMOX)-Two south St. Louis men have been charged in yesterday’s Sunset Hills home invasion, where one of them was shot.
35-year-old Joshua Hammett of the 6500 block of Morganford and 36-year-old Todd McCubbins of the 3700 block of Blow, are accused of breaking into a home in the 10,700 block of Leebur, threatening the homeowner with a weapon, binding her hands and feet and taking cash.
According to police Hammett was armed with a semi-automatic pistol. Officers arriving on the scene shot one of the suspects. The other was caught trying to climb over a tall back yard fence. The victim was not hurt.
Both Hammett and McCubbins face six charges: first degree burglary, first degree robbery, armed criminal action, felonious restraint, unlawful use of a weapon and second degree property damage.
Neighbors told KMOX on the scene Wednesday, that they believe the home was targeted, because the residents there had been involved in “shady dealings” for years. They also questioned the quality of people the residents had hired to do yard work. Police are not yet commenting on whether the victims knew the suspects.
