Worker Burned Over 90% Of His Body

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) –  A construction worker was critically injured Friday morning while working at a building that’s undergoing renovation.

Captain Dan Sutter with the St. Louis Fire Department tells KMOX News that it was shortly after 9 a.m. when the worker apparently used a blowtorch to try and open a barrel marked “flammable”.

“And that part of it’s under investigation at this time,” Sutter adds.

Early reports were that the man suffered burns on more than 90-percent of his body.

The explosion in the 1600 block of Tower Grove Avenue caused a small fire which was quickly put out and there were no other injuries.
