ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) — Free agent Albert Pujols is starting to assess his options.
According to MLB.com Pujols and his representatives are scheduled to meet with the Marlins in Miami, as early as Saturday. The Marlins are set to get a new stadium in April, which will increase their payroll significantly.
The Marlins have already talked with pitcher Mark Buehrle and shortstop Jose Reyes. In addition, owner Jeffrey Loria visited the Dominican Republic this week to watch a private workout by highly regarded Cuban outfielder Yoenis Cespedes.
The 31-year-old Pujols became a free agent for the first time after he and the Cardinals were unable to reach an agreement last winter.
