ARNOLD, Mo. (KMOX) – Thanks to quick action by his fellow firefighters, a Rock Community firefighter escaped an eight to ten foot fall in a burning house, with only a leg injury.
Spokesman Ron Harder tells KMOX when the crews pulled up in the 3800 block of Stone Ridge Court Sunday morning, smoke was pouring from a vacant house, “Firefighters went in to make an aggressive attack to put out the fire. As they were going in through the smoke, one of our firefighters fell through a hole in the floor and landed in the basement.”
Harder says firefighters got their fallen comrade out of the house, even before the mayday could be sounded.
The injured man was expected to be released from the hospital later Sunday.
The fire’s cause is under investigation.
