MARION, Ill. (AP) – A federal prison in southern Illinois is on lockdown after weekend fights left about a dozen inmates with minor injuries.
The (Carbondale) Southern Illinoisan reports that no workers at the U.S. Penitentiary in Marion were injured in the series of flare-ups Sunday afternoon in the prison’s recreation yard.
The prison will remain on lockdown until the investigation is complete.
It isn’t clear how many inmates actually took part in the fights or what their injuries were.
