BROOKLYN, Ill. (AP) — Police in the southwestern Illinois village of Brooklyn are trying to determine why a grandson shot and wounded his grandmother before turning the gun on himself.
KTVI in St. Louis reports that the 88-year-old grandmother and 51-year-old grandson were clinging to life after the shooting at about 2:45 a.m. Wednesday in the St. Clair County community. There’s no word on their conditions Wednesday.
Police say the shooting happened in the home the two shared.
Police Chief Delbert Marion says both victims had gunshot wounds to the head.
Family members at the scene say they had no inkling what may have led to the gunfire.
