ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - As the outdoor temperature turns colder, rescue agencies in the region are scrambling to find good homes for the animals they take in.
Kim Brown of the Five Acres shelter in St. Charles attended a calendar kickoff event, Sunday, at Scottrade Center, where St. Louis Blues players raised money for charities like hers, “We have three dogs here today, and there’s about twenty more back at the shelter looking for homes, as well as about fifty cats. So, the chances of them being seen and getting adopted are hopefully greater.”
Blues captain David Backes is one of the players featured in the 2012 “Pucks For Paws” calendar now for sale, with all proceeds going to rescue shelters, “These dogs and cats are animals that don’t have a say. They’re not able to voice their opinion. Someone needs to speak up for them.”
The calendars are available online at the Blues team website and can be purchased at upcoming home games. The cost is twelve dollars.
Purina Dog Chow provided the funding for print costs.
