LEADWOOD, Mo. (KMOX) –  A police chief who crashed his car into a tree last week has died of his injuries.

69-year-old Leadwood police chief Jerry Hicks was on duty when his car slid off a Washington County road after he hit an icy patch on a bridge on November 29th.

He’s been heading to the state prison in Potosi at the time to pick up members of an inmate work crew.

Hicks died Sunday at a St. Louis hospital.
