“Twilight” Still Lighting the Way at the Box Office
The international hit “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1” topped the domestic box office charts again last weekend. Showing in 4,046 locations, the film garnered $16.9 million, which is down 59% from the previous weekend. For 3 weeks, the film has taken in $247.3 million.
The return of “The Muppets” continued steady if unspectacular business doing $11.2 million for a grand total of $56.5 million in two weeks.
A film many think is a front-runner for an Oscar as best picture for 2011, “Hugo,” was third last weekend with $7.6 million, which is excellent considering the movie is only showing at 1,840 locations, way under the 3000+ normally associated with most big films this time of the year.
In 4th spot was the animated 3D film “Arthur Christmas” with $7.4 million, and in 5th place was “Happy Feet Two” with $6 million. For a complete listing of all the box office results, click on the link below.
