CHICAGO (KMOX/AP) – A longtime assistant coach with Tony LaRussa and the St. Louis Cardinals is now a Chicago Cub.
New Cubs manager Dale Sveum announced Friday that Dave McKay will be his first base coach for the upcoming season.
McKay was the Cardinals’ first base coach until LaRussa’s retirement this offseason. He has been replaced by former Memphis Redbirds manager Chris Maloney.
Rounding out the Cubs coaching staff for 2012 will be former Kansas City Royals and St. Louis Cardinals catcher Jamie Quirk as bench coach, Chris Bosio as pitching coach, Pat Listach as third base coach, Rudy Jaramillo as hitting coach, and Lester Strode as bullpen coach.
