Former SIU-E Student Sentenced For Terrorist Threat

EDWARDSVILLE, Il. (KMOX)-The former SIU-Edwardsville student who was found guilty in October of making a terrorist threat, has been sentenced to five years in prison.

Olutosin Oduwole had claimed the note found in his car in 2007, threatening a Virginia Tech style attack if $50,000 wasn’t deposited into an unidentified PayPal account, actually contained rap lyrics.

Prosecutors had sought 15 years, the maximum for a Class 1 Felony.

Odulwole was also sentenced to a concurrent 364 days in prison for his conviction for possessing a loaded handgun in a campus apartment.

He also pleaded guilty to a previously filed felony case out of Wood River, where he allegedly sold and collected money on a gun that he did not have in his possession over the internet. He was sentenced to 30 months probation which will run concurrent to his prison sentence.
