ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Have you made a donation at a Salvation Army red kettle this holiday season?

St. Louis division spokesman Will Becker says it’s not too late, “Kettles come out around Thanksgiving and go through December 24th. Today is the last day to drop a dollar or two or three into the red kettles. People don’t always realize how quickly it all adds up.”

Becker says the Salvation Army gets about two-million-dollars locally each year from the red kettles.

As for any special drops in kettles this year, he says gold coins were donated in Alton and Belleville, and someone called a corps office to ask if it would be okay to drop a gold ring into a kettle.
